"Queen Elizabeth 2 and Queen Mary 2" - 2004
at Southampton on
1st May, 2004

The photographs below were taken by me from the Town Pier in Southampton, when both vessels
were in port together for, what may be the last time - certainly as joint trans-Atlantic sailings.
QE2 was due for a refit then to spend the summer of 2004 cruising in the Mediterranean.

They were photographed, variously, with digital camcorder and 'frame-grabbed' and a
conventional film camera on what turned out to be a very murky day with a heavy mist that
suddenly descended and remained for most of the day. Although the 'film' photographs have been enhanced the frame-grabbed ones have not thereby giving an idea of the actual conditions on that May morning.

Both vessels were due to sail late afternoon, but QE2's departure was brought forward
by a couple of hours.

QM2 is pictured at what will now become her Home berth, having arrived in the morning at the conclusion of her Maiden Voyage to the USA which started on Monday 12th January, 2004.
